Style Steal: Jennifer Lawrence

Everyone loves her. Everyone wishes they could be her friend and now everyone wants to dress like her. Jennifer Lawrence. The hilarious actress also has impeccable style. Even though most of the outfit choices she makes while not on red carpets are casual, they still look amazing and so put together.

Looking at pictures of Jennifer and the different clothing items she wears, you see a lot of jeans and t shirts as well as cardigans and jackets. She has a very laid back wardrobe which makes it easy to recreate! All of the items that I chose for three different looks are all $50 or less!

Look #1

This look is very easy to recreate because most of the items should already be essentials in your closet. With this look you can substitute about almost anything. Since this look is already so casual, it is easy to make it your own.

Look #2

For this look it is a little bit harder to get your hands on these items, especially depending on the season you are in, but it is still manageable. This look is great because of the romper. It is adding a sort of plain clothing item and spicing it up with the leather jacket and fedora.

Fashion Don’t: Cheesy Graphic Sweatshirts

Okay, so recently I have been seeing lots of people walking around with these ugly graphic sweatshirts that you shouldn’t be caught in public wearing. I’m not talking about the ones that say love with a heart, I’m talking about the ones that have a pumpkin on it or even a star.

These are tacky and ugly people. I know some people don’ t like to dress up when they go out in public and that is perfectly fine. I don’t care if I see someone who is wearing sweat pants in public because whatever they just want to be comfy, but when you have this huge cartoon picture on your chest, that is where I draw the line. These sweatshirts are starting to pop up everywhere in stores. People are starting to buy more and more of these because the stores sell them for cheap. NEWS FLASH PEOPLE! They are cheap because they are ugly and they don’t think people will  buy them so they put them at a lower price.

Yes I know that everyone has the right to wear whatever they want and I respect that. I am just giving you all some advice on what actually looks presentable and what needs to be burned at a bonfire. The tacky sweatshirts are great for parties and events that you’re supposed to wear ugly shirts. For example during Christmas time lots of people have ugly sweater parties. Once again they are supposed to be ugly and that’s why everyone wears them. It is not Christmas season all year long, so you don’t have to wear the sweater or sweatshirt all year long. And plus, why would you want to wear it more than once anyway?

If you love the cheesy graphic sweatshirt trend and that’s all you own in your closet than go right ahead and strut it out in public but keep in mind that you may look a little strange. If you want to keep wearing them maybe try and find something that is a little less toned down. There are some graphic sweatshirts that are acceptable. For example, Forever21 has lots of graphic sweatshirts that are cute and affordable, but make sure you are on the lookout because sometimes they get a little crazy.

Be safe out there and make sure you stay away from anything that is a sweatshirt and that has big, large cartoon figures or letters on them!

Fashion Inspirations

Kourtney Kardashian

Kourtney’s style in fashion is very bohemian chic with a little vintage mixed in. She isn’t afraid to take risks when it comes to fashion and she is able to pull them off every time. You see her in harem pants a lot, which is a risk in itself. She once said that she was loving the 70’s vintage look. Another one of Kourntey’s must haves would be a blazer. No matter what outfit she is wearing she pairs a blazer with it. Whether it is a classic black or alone with a pop of color, she is always sporting them. Even though Kourtney likes to take risks and wear things that are more daring, she also can pull of casual, simplistic looks. If she wore jeans and a button down it would look great on her.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is known for not really caring what people think of her, especially paparazzi. When she steps outside on a regular day you see her drift towards the more comfortable outfits such as jeans and t-shirts. She wears a lot of maxi skirts and dresses which are also on the more casual side. Jennifer Lawrence likes to keep it simple on the streets but on the red carpet she wears beautiful dresses. Although most of the dresses she wears on the red carpet are yet again, simple, they still look stunning.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus’ style is very edgy. She does rare outfits that most people couldn’t pull off. She likes the black, dark colors with spikes. She wears a lot of cropped tops and high-waisted pants. If you were to see her out of the streets or in the recording studio she would be wearing her short spiky hair with high-waisted pants, a crop top, combat boots, and a leather jacket. Over the years Cyrus has definitely grown up and her style has proven that.

Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad’s style is very girly and bright. She loves to wear colors but keep it sophisticated. She knows all the tips and tricks for fashion so she can pull off anything! Conrad always likes to keep things simple so she pulls outfits together that would work for day and night. Lauren is always on point with her outfits whether it’s from just going to the grocery store or to an event. Since she has her own clothing line, you too can try out her favorite pieces!

Fashion Don’t:Dresses Over Pants

Dresses over pants. Never should be worn together. If you think that this is acceptable that you probably haven’t looked in the mirror. Many stars are starting to wear this hideous attire to red carpet events. Just because the stars are wearing them doesn’t make them ok to sport out in public, or ever! If you want to wear a dress then wear a dress, if you want to wear pants then wear pants, but know that they should never go together.

Long shirts are different that dresses, they may look like dresses but they are not. Long shirts over pants is ok because it’s a shirt not a dress. For example if you were wearing a long henley shirt over jeans that would be acceptable and cute. If you wanted to wear a bodycon dress with jeans that would be out of question. I don’t understand why this is becoming a trend and why so many women think that this looks ok.

The thing that is really confusing about dresses over pants, is why they choose to pick the same color and fabric of pant as the dress. It makes it look way worse than before if you are wearing pants that match the dress. It just look like they did a bad job hemming your dress and added legs. NOT OK! Also, if you are going to wear a longer dress you don’t need to have pants on underneath. The dress was made long so you wouldn’t have to wear anything underneath, it already covers up your legs. You don’t need to wear a maxi dress with jeans, that does not look good AT ALL.

This trend still makes no sense to me. Dresses and pants were made to go in separate outfits, not together. The only time that this trend would be acceptable is if you were dressing up for Halloween or you had to play a confused older woman in a play.

Another thing that we need to clear up real quick is that leggings are not the same thing as pants. Yes people wear them as pants but they are not the same thing. They are meant to add more fabric to something or be some sort of substitute to pants if you didn’t want to wear them with your outfit. Dresses with leggings are acceptable, but make sure you pair the leggings with the right type of dress, because it can still look a little  bit off.

So ladies do all of us on this world a favor and do not wear dresses with pants, even if you wanted to wear the dress under pants, don’t do it. Wear them in separate outfits, that way you won’t look so confused and lost when you are wandering around the streets of America.

Spring Break Must have Accesories

Since a lot of us are planning to take a must needed spring break trip in the coming months than you must all need to know the must haves to bring along with you! I have gathered up the top eight items you will need to make sure are in your suitcase!

1. Beach Bag

If you are planning on going to the beach a lot this is a necessary MUST! Going to the beach or even to a pool means you will probably be staying in the same place for awhile. Why would you want to walk around to get things that you could just bring along with you in your beach bag? Your bag can carry things for towels to sunscreen. There are many different styles and patterns for bags so you can find one that you like best!

2. Sunglasses

This should be a no-brainer when you are thinking of what to bring on your spring break vacation. You need sunglasses anywhere you go unless you are going to somewhere without sun it is a must! There is many many different types of sunglasses so you could bring whatever pair you think looks fabulous on you!

3. Sunscreen

HELLO?? Who wouldn’t need sunscreen! If you are wanting to stay protected against those dangerous rays than i suggest you pick up a thing of sunscreen. If you are not a fan of the generic sunscreen than you could also try products with sunscreen in them such as lotions or lip balms. Make sure you are also aware that some of these products will not protect you as well as regular ole’ sunscreen so be cautious!

4. Sun Hat

Since you will probably be out in the sun for long periods of time throughout your trip you should consider buying yourself a sun hat. They are the best things to protect your head from the hot sun and they look so cute too! Sun hats are so in this time of year so you won’t have to worry about being on top of style trends!

5. Comfortable Shoes

Bringing your cutest pair of sandals is a definite must for spring break but you should also consider bringing a pair of shoes that you find your most comfortable(preferably sandals). If you are going to be somewhere with lots of sand and water than I would suggest shoes that you also wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty. When sand stays on your shoes it can make them turn a brownish color if not washed off so make sure you bring darker colored shoes!

6. Scarves

If you want something that is an easy accessory to put with any outfit then you want a scarf. They are great pieces that can go with ANYTHING and take no thought into putting it in your outfit. For this type of occasion I would stick with scarves that a lighter weight and not a wool type fabric.

7. Makeup Remover

Wearing makeup while tanning or laying out can cause you to not get as much sun as you would like. Most makeup products have some sort of SPF in them so it would not let you get as tan as you want. You want to make sure to take your makeup off and I mean who cares if you aren’t wearing makeup…YOU’RE ON SPRING BREAK! There are many different types of makeup removers such as wipes and liquids.

8. Body Spray

Making sure you smell good is always a must but especially on vacation. Bringing along your favorite body spray will help you stay well scented while your laying out on the beach!

Winter Trend: Sparkles, Sparkles, and more SPARKLES!

During the beginning of the winter season it has not been a secret that sequins and sparkly things are in! Many stores and designers have been coming out with every single piece of clothing item and more with sparkles galore on them! This style trend is great for getting ready for the new year and a start for something new. The most popular have been glitter sweaters. Both a great match together. The warmth and comfort from a sweater, and sparkles to make the outfit stand out. Here are some great clothing items that would follow the trend:

Any of these three items would be great to use for New Years Eve or to a holiday party. If you don’t have any parties or events to go to, these clothing items would be great just to wear around town. You can never have too many sparkles!

Here are some great outfits that these items would go fantastic with:

Winter Trends: Layering

During the winter months, depending on where you are, can get very cold and you aren’t able to wear half of your closet anymore because its just not worth freezing! Well who says that just because the weather changed and it is now colder that you can’t still have style and look cute??? Well layers are a great way to still look cute but also stay warm! Now doing layers can become to look a little messy so here are some tips on putting together a layering outfit that still looks cute!

1. Mix patterns with solid colors.

  • Many people drift to darker colors during the winter season, which is great but you could also add a pattern or two to make your layering outfit not so boring. An important tip to keep in mind when adding patterns to not add too many because it can become overwhelming to the eye.

imagesCANY6N4P2. Don’t pile on too much heavy layers

  • When layering, you want to keep the different items of clothing light so you don’t overwhelm yourself with the amount of items that are hanging on your body. Layering lots of heavy, bigger items, can also make you look larger than you actually are which sometimes doesn’t look too flattering. If you layer two lighter items with one heavier item on top, you will complete the layering look.

layered-scarves-cardi-bf-jeans-perfect-outfit3. Add a shall rather than a sweater

  • Layering sweater on sweaters can become bulgy and not so flattering. It is true that you want to stay warm and that’s part of the reason why layering is so in, but to help you keep your actual shape, you can try something like a shall. They come in knit forms and also thinner, scarf like fabrics.
